According to Greek mythology, the island was named after the first-born son of Apollo, God Mykono. Its meaning is “island of light” and, truly, it could not be a more luminous place. When the sun rises, the white buildings of the island shine and, together with the surrounding turquoise waters, give one of the most beautiful and dazzling Mediterranean landscapes.
